One of our most memorable weddings took place at Sunstone Winery's private villa in Santa Ynez. We had the distinct pleasure of producing the first wedding ever at the Sunstone Villa! This was a wedding for a gorgeous bride and groom at the Winery's private villa in the gardens, with a custom gypsy caravan and stunning views as our backdrop. The sublime food was created by Eat Drink Garden's Valerie Rice, the divine pastries and wedding cake were baked by the former Martha Stewart Weddings Food Editor Elizabeth Colling, the antique Haviland Limoges porcelain came from Small Masterpiece, the bride's jewelry was from both Adesso and 33 Jewels, and the uplifted and joyous music was played by gypsy guitarists Vincent and Vedant. Everything was perfectly captured by photographer Elizabeth Messina. It was a gem of a wedding and we are delighted that it also graced the pages of C Magazine, Grey Likes Weddings and Once Wed.
An opulent setting with magnificent ocean and mountain views was the backdrop for this Montecito estate wedding produced by Merryl Brown Events. The bride wore a stunning couture Monique Lhuillier gown and Harry Winston diamonds and carried a bouquet of perfect white roses. The couple was married under a breathtaking chuppah of thousands of white and pink roses in a theater garden carved into the hillside at the estate. Following the ceremony was a sumptuous dinner catered by the Four Seasons Biltmore, served on antique china and sterling flatware with vintage crystal goblets. The setting for the dinner was on a stone paved motorcourt with antique fountains surrounded by hundreds of hanging votives and dozens of crystal chandeliers suspended from the majestic oak trees. A surprise performance by Kenny Loggins, followed by three celebrity DJs helped to create an unforgettable evening of great food, elegant surroundings, and beautiful memories.
"Merryl Brown Events made our grand affair seem effortless and truly organic. I've had the pleasure of working with many of the world's top event planners and I would without question choose Merryl over any of them. You are in amazing hands with Merryl Brown Events."

Merryl Brown Events was hired to produce a spectacular Mexican-inspired destination wedding at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel Valley, CA. The Santa Lucia Preserve, where we are a Preferred vendor, is an exclusive, 20,000-acre private community tucked away in the Santa Lucia Mountains—truly a hidden treasure amongst the popular destinations of Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Big Sur. Access to the Preserve is limited to homeowners, their families, and their guests. The privacy and seclusion of the Preserve showcase the surrounding natural beauty, including the breathtaking redwood groves, and the plethora of wild animals that roam the grounds. Also located on the property are the gorgeous Spanish Colonial-style Hacienda, a magnificent rustic barn used for events and weddings, and a world-class equestrian center. We created a lovely wedding ceremony at the Preserve in the middle of a majestic redwood grove, followed by a stunnig reception in the barn which was inspired by the beautiful movie Like Water for Chocolate. It was as if we were in old Mexico, one hundred years ago, in another time and place. It was a spectacular weekend of memorable events.
"You made the planning process so smooth. I feel so fortunate to have had you and your team's guidance over such an important time in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you."
—Mia Feldman, Bride
Inspired by royalty and all things antique, this couple was the picture of perfection. The table was set with gorgeous antique Haviland Limoges porcelain, antique sterling silver, American cut glass goblets and antique ivory linens. Together we created a memorable and magnificent series of images that capture the essence of the couple, the beauty of their surroundings and of timeless and elegant traditional style.
"Words can't express our appreciation for everything you have done to make our wedding so memorable. You are just incredible and, of course, did so many things beyond the 'call of duty.' We were absolutely thrilled with our ceremony and reception. I would recommend your services to anyone. Without you we would have been lost. You and your staff are real treasures."
—Helena & Richard Martinez
We coordinated a charming destination wedding at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa for a lovely couple who were looking for a homespun, classic and understated affair for two hundred of their friends and family. After a lovely wedding ceremony in a nearby church, guests traveled to the Inn for alfresco cocktails, dinner and dancing under a starry evening sky. The evening exuded warmth, charm and truly reflected the personal tastes of the bride and groom.
"I cannot thank you enough for all of your incredible hard work. It truly was a perfect day. Everything was exactly how I imagined, but better. Thanks to you for bringing our vision together. You were such a pleasure to work with. Lots of love, and all my thanks and gratitude."
—L.A.M., Bride
We adore designing unique and beautiful wedding photo shoots! In a burst of divine inspiration we produced a shoot with photographer Joan Allen, floral designer Camilla Svenssen Burns and a dream team of other talented wedding professionals to create a series of elegant, old world and mysterious wedding images. The shoot took place at Eye of the Day Garden Design Center in Carpinteria, CA. Our talented calligrapher, Laura Hooper, inscribed several lines from the hauntingly romantic "Parfum Exotique" by Charles Baudelaire directly onto the photographs. We like to produce shoots periodically to give brides fresh new ideas and approaches to wedding design, floral design and decor. The list of wedding vendors for this shoot can be found on our blog story entitled, Our Junebug Weddings Photo shoot.
"Merryl is an amazingly creative and brilliant breath of fresh air. We created a dark and mysterious yet beautiful wedding fashion story, featured in Junebug Weddings. I am already looking forward to coming up with our next story."
—Joan Allen, Photographer
San Ysidro Ranch, nestled into the gorgeous foothills of Montecito, is always a glorious place for a wedding. This sweet and romantic wedding was filled with joy, charm and love and we were delighted to play a part in creating the magic of this very special occasion. Merryl Brown Events is on the exclusive list of Preferred Wedding Planner at San Ysidro Ranch.
We are often called upon to create perfect little 'jewel box' weddings for couples that want to have an elegant and memorable wedding but are looking for a more intimate experience. This is an area in which we excel. For this Midwest bride and groom, a house with spectacular views was rented up in the mountains above Montecito for the ultimate in privacy and seclusion. There we created a masterpiece of old world charm and simple elegance, letting the views dominate the visuals. The bride chose La Tavola embroidered overlays over creamy Peau de Soie underlays, with several dozen candles, masses of garden roses and peonies and crystal vases throughout. On the bar, were formal antique silver trays with old silver accoutrements, along with good wines, Riedel stemware, copious cocktails and artisanal hors d'oeuvres. The chef, Erika Heinemann of Savvy Wine Food, created a menu of sublime mini plates for the guests over the course of the evening, followed by a selection of individual wedding cakes by Robin Loves Cake on antique sterling footed candy dishes. All antique silver and porcelain was from Merryl Brown Events. Floral designs were produced in house by Merryl Brown Events. Rentals were from Classic Party Rentals and linens from La Tavola.
In a lovely woodland on a vast Montecito, CA estate, our wedding team designed a storybook yellow and white wedding, replete with antique crystal and silver, gorgeous and lush floral by Laura Sangas, vintage table linens, lemons collected from a grove on the estate, antique toads from the Cotswolds, a lovely bride in a daisy dress and the magic charm of photographer Melissa Musgrove. Simple, sweet and stunning!
